Work: On an oil field as a spooler.Goal#1: Show up 10 minutes prior to work
Goal#2: Complete a JSA on every location at work
Goal#3: Wear proper PPE on every location at work To conserve space here, goal#1, goal#2 and goal#3 should follow the same pattern.1. Steps to achieve my goal.
2. Obstacles to be overcome.
3. What changes will take effect as a result of achieving this objective?
4. Why is this goal important to me?See the attached file.http://www.roughneckcity.com/Oilfield_Cutting_Drilling_L.htmlhttp://www.osha.gov/pls/oshaweb/owadisp.show_document?p_table=STANDARDS&p_id=9777http://www.osha.gov/SLTC/etools/oilandgas/job_safety_analysis_process.htmlGoal#1: Show up 10 minutes prior to work
This goal is a policy that can be carried out by the employee themselves. The policy may require the worker to show up 10 minutes prior to organize the next two goals.Goal#2: Complete a JSA on every location at work
The completion of a JSA requires identifying all steps, hazards, and safe work procedures before starting the job. This represents a multi-step process, which dictates that the first goal would be wise (showing up at work ten minutes early). The JSA process is a multi-step process: Basic Job Steps:
First YOU should break the spooling job into a sequence of steps. Each step must accompany a major task associated with work as an oil spooler consisting of a series of movements. Each series of movements is subsequently looked at within that basic task. Potential Hazards:
This enables identification of hazards or potential hazards emanating from each basic step, and YOU must ensure that your identification process is effectively carried out. View the entire environment to gauge every possible source of energy to determine any conceivable hazard that may exist as the drilling line is spooled. Recommended Safe Job Procedures:
After incorporating the sequence of basic job steps into the JSA and developing a determination of potential hazards YOU must then decide what appropriate steps to take to mitigate, eliminate, control or minimize hazards that may cause injuries during the drilling of line as it is spooled. These hazards could include damage to the environment or occupational illness. Each safe job procedure or action must correspond to the job steps and identified hazards.Goal#3: Wear proper PPE on every location at work
The use of PPE includes personal protective equipment for eyes, face, head, and extremities, protective clothing, respiratory devices, and protective shields and barriers. These PPE items must be maintained in sanitary and reliable conditions when hazardous conditions exist capable of causing injury or impairment in the function of any part of a workers body while the drilling line is spooled. These PPE items must prevent injury or impairment that could occur through absorption, inhalation, or physical contact. Design: Personal equipment for the workers responsible for being stationed at the workstation where the drilling line is spooled must be provided PPE of safe design and construction appropriate for this work.1910.132(d)
The following is a part of the process that must be initiated during hazard assessment and equipment selection.1910.132(d)(1)
After conducting goal 2 and if establishing that hazards are present or likely to be present YOU must, under section 1910.132(d)(1)(i) select and have each worker that uses the area where the drilling line is spooled with wear the types of PPE selected from the hazards identified in the hazard assessment during goal 2. In addition YOU are required to, under section 1910.132(d)(1)(ii); communicate the selected decisions with each worker in the area where the drilling line is spooled. The final step that is required is 1910.132(d)(1)(iii), which requires selection of PPE items that properly fit each individual employee who is working in the area where the drilling line is being spooled. To conserve space here, goal#1, goal#2 and goal#3 should follow the same pattern.
1. Steps to achieve my goal.
2. Obstacles to be overcome.
3. What changes will take effect as a result of achieving this objective?
4. Why is this goal important to me?The steps to achieve your goal include ensuring that YOU follow the aforementioned requirements in goals 1, 2, and 3 as outlined by OSHA. In addition, regularly replacing worn lines that are a result of drilling lines spooled must be conducted. The greatest concern is the area where the line is constantly spooled over the drum. This should be your area of focus regarding safety as it has been IDENTIFIED as the most hazardous area for probable injury or accidents developed in goal #2. The worker must always visually inspect worn and torn lines resulting from the drilling line being spooled to determine when to cut the drilling line. In addition, figures determined by the Rig Manager using Ton Miles of accumulated wear are important in determining where the line is cut, but visual inspection must supersede this while YOU must check the drum regularly for any broken lines. The company must provide you (the worker) with all the aforementioned PPE items to perform your job according to the OSHA regulations outlined in goal #3. The obstacles to overcome involve ensuring that workers remain safe and are not injured while working. When handling the drilling line you will face the obstacle of the drilling line sliding through your hands and the possibility of instances where blocks fall through knots endangering other workers as well as yourself. The changes that will occur are safer work stations while the drilling line is spooled resulting in less potential for injuries, deaths, and accidents. This is the most important asset of this objective.
