how to respond.• Prejudice always increases when political events occur involving Arabs. Educators need to be prepared to respond to possible harassment or
hate crimes occurring resulting from negative news reporting• Schools can take care not to discriminate against Muslims. They should not enforce dress codes or requirements that violate the Muslim tradition
of modesty or religious practice.• Federal law permits students to organize prayer services, and schools should accommodate such requests from Muslims (Council on American-
Islamic Relations, 1997) (i.e. a place to go, separate from the cafeteria, while fasting during the month of Ramadan) • Teachers can reach out to Arab parents having them serve as a resource for teachers or staff development.• In regards to curriculum; introductions and lessons delving into the history/ culture of Arab music, art, photographs of Arab countries, English
